Custom Automation Cells
HQA builds custom automation cells for assembly, inspection, testing, laser processing, part handling, and other production applications. We utilize a modular approach, starting with our pre-engineered modular cell platform to configure the specific tooling, controls, robot, and process hardware around your unique application.
Typical Custom Applications
We engineer dedicated processing stations and integrated production layouts to accommodate several core manufacturing operations:
How We Approach Custom Automation
To reduce lead time, we build from a standard heavy-duty cell base. The frame, guarding, electrical cabinet, controls, safety system, and basic layout are already defined. This gives each project a proven starting point. It also helps us use common components, common wiring practices, and a common service approach across different machines.

A custom cell is a good fit when the application combines multiple operations, connects to other machines, or requires non-standard part sizes, feeding methods, tooling, or process equipment.

Custom Automation Examples
Special Application Cells
Custom cells built on HQA's modular platform. We start with a standard machine foundation, then configure the size, tooling, part handling, controls, and process equipment for the application.
Custom Automation Projects
Examples of fully custom machines designed and built by HQA before the modular platform was introduced. These projects show our experience with assembly, inspection, testing, material handling, and multi-operation automation.
